Balance refers to the ability to maintain stability and control of body position, whether stationary or moving, while coordination involves the smooth and efficient movement of different body parts working together. Both are essential for physical performance, but balance focuses on stability, whereas coordination emphasizes timing and precision in movements.
Recently I have been utilizing particular coordination exercises not only for the obvious benefits my clients get from the instruction, but also because they indicate how and where I want to do my massage treatment.
You can improve your coordination by consistency with the right exercises. Massage therapy softens the appropriate tissue for ease of movement, helping to accelerate the results we are looking for.
Getting down and especially up from the floor is very often a challenging task. We can work together to discover the most efficient way to accomplish this, utilizing props when the need arises. It is a wonderful functional exercise in itself, and from an assessment perspective, important discoveries can be made.
